Top tips to try and minimise any issues with potential scams:
• Deal locally with buyers and sellers you can meet in-person (this is the easiest rule to ensure you avoid any possible scam)
• Never wire any funds via Western Union, PayPal or any wire service
• Be wary about replying to a text message (if they ask you to reply via email rather than text back, it is most likely a scam. Usually the text will also come from a blank number)
• Fake cheques are possible (always confirm with your bank that the funds have cleared)
• Allclassifieds is never involved in any part of any transaction (any email seeking funds to be paid through allclassifieds is a fake)
• Never give out your financial information (bank account, TFN, PayPal info, and so on)
• Avoid any deals with people claiming to need large shipping or insurance costs

allclassifieds.com.au is an excellent way to sell, but exercise caution dealing with potential buyers, particularly if they're overseas. Someone may claim to have placed funds in your bank account or transferred them to you, but unless you check with your bank that funds are deposited and cleared you can't know you've been paid. Scam email sent by a fake 'seller' surrounding the sale of a car:
Hi Jason, The price is $8,100. I have attached you some photos. The car is like new, no accidents full service history, clean interior and exterior, no scratches, no damages, no mechanical or engine problems, always garaged. I am selling the car so cheap because I am in United Kingdom with my job and I am going through a divorce. I am a VerifiedTrader so the transaction will be done through eBay. If you're ready for this purchase, I need to know your full name and address, as soon as I have them I will start the official procedure, and eBay will notify you about this. eBay will send you an Invoice with all the info you will need to complete the transaction. Also a 10 days refund policy will be included so if you will not like the car you will receive your money back. Thanks, David
Scam emails sent to sellers offering to buy goods:
Thanks for the prompt response.. I am ready to buying it now for my DAD and i am at sea at the moment as i am a marine engineer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding it. I really want the goods to be a surprise for DAD so i wont let him know anything about the goods until it gets delivered to him, i am sure he will be more than happy with the Product. I insisted on paypal because i don't have access to my bank account online as i don't have internet banking, but i can pay from my paypal account, as i have my bank a/c attached to it, i will need you to give me your paypal email address and the price so i can make the payments asap for the goods and pls if you don't have paypal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to www.paypal.com.au and get it set up, after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registration with paypal so as to put the money through. have a pick up agent that will come and pick the goods up after i have made the payments...
